Do you have a dog? (Published 31st March 2011)
Have you seen the notices around the village?
The notices say that all dogs must be kept on a lead, that no more than six dogs are to be walked at any one time and that all dog owners must pick up any dog mess.
Dog fouling is still a big problem in the village, the path at the back of Stonechurch View, the middle land, the playing field and now Station Road, at the front of the new houses on Jasmine Gardens, are areas that residents continually report dog fouling to the Parish Council.
Ashfield District Council's dog warden/environmental health are monitoring the problem with regular visits and if anyone is caught breaking the law there will be no "if's no but's" you will be fined.
Is our village getting smaller or does it just seem like it? (Published 31st March 2011)
No it's because more and more cars are being parked on roads and pavements around the village. We can all help to address this problem by parking vehicles, wherever possible, on your own property. The number of houses that seem to fill their garages with anything but their cars is amazing.
Now to the safety aspect. Many cars in the village are parked on blind corners and close to road junctions. The entrance to Stonechurch View being an example, parked cars near the entrance mean that you have to be on the wrong side of the road into a blind bend. Surprisingly no bad accidents yet. If this continues to be a problem double yellow lines might be the answer.
